Ideally located between Marseille and Toulon, between the sea and the Var hinterland, the little-known Destel is known here as a "Little Verdon." It certainly doesn't have the depth or breadth of those peaks, but its unspoiled, wild, and somewhat atypical setting for the region has something to seduce, even excite. It benefits from the Toulon climate with its mild winters and its national sunshine record. The multiple faces of its numerous sectors occupy all possible exposures, thus allowing you to play with the sun or the shade according to the seasons.
Climbing is possible all year round, even on Mistral days, from which it is rather well sheltered. The climbing is incredibly varied: on slabs, steep walls, or cracks from 4c to 7c, or in its numerous overhangs and caves, for which the Destel holds the secret, and which allow for ultra-sporty climbing up to 8b. The selection of routes is just as comprehensive, ranging from 20m long-pitch climbs to 200m multi-pitch routes!
The hikes are numerous and fun, easily combined according to your desires and abilities.
Exploring the numerous caves, often inhabited since the Neolithic period and sometimes decorated, adds further historical appeal to this unique and fascinating place. The medieval village of Evenos, overlooking the ravine and whose history is closely linked to that of the Destel, is a must-see in itself. Finally, two fun and easily accessible canyons complete the range of activities.
