The Mälaren skate map is the most advanced map ever made, where the needs of the skater are at the center of attention. The map was developed in close collaboration with Mårten Ajne, one of Sweden's most experienced and skilled skaters who, among other things, is the author of the reference book Stora boken om långfärdsskridsko and the guide to Skrinnaren on Mälaren. Mårten has processed over fifty years of ice and weather data and combined this with the experience accumulated within the skating clubs of Mälardalen.
The result is presented here in the form of two 1:50,000 scale maps that cover the whole of Lake Mälaren. Over 200 icing zones are displayed with 11 different colored zones, depending on the stage of freezing. In addition, great care has been taken to current points and weak points of the lake, known snags, navigation channels and outlets. The map also contains recommended starting locations, parking lots and suitable land crossings.
