Located just off the coast of California, the Channel Islands are home to many unique species of flora and fauna. National Geographic's Trails Illustrated Channel Islands National Park map covers the five islands that encompass the park in unparalleled detail, including The Nature Conservancy's Santa Cruz Island area and the numerous State Marine Reserve areas surrounding the islands. Produced in partnership with the National Park Service and other agencies, this map provides general information about the park and each island, as well as regulations and guidelines. In addition, it provides information regarding transportation to the islands, as well as safety warnings for land (hiking), water (swimming, snorkeling, and diving), and boating (and kayaking).
Each island is presented with a trail guide, listing trailheads and destinations, distances, and difficulty. Trails are mapped with mile markers and coded according to trail type. Island roads, which can also be used for hiking, are also shown. A Scorpion Area inset provides additional details about this popular area. The map includes contour lines, elevations, labeled peaks, selected waypoints, water sources, and wooded areas. In addition, numerous recreational features and facilities are located, such as ranger stations, campgrounds, restrooms, picnic areas, and historic buildings.
This is a map of the Scorpion Region.
Each Trails Illustrated map is printed on waterproof and tear-resistant Backcountry Tough paper. A complete UTM grid is printed on the map to aid GPS navigation.
